CALADAN GALLERY presents "SYMBOLISM in the 21st CENTURY", a juried exhibition. The nature of symbolism changes rapidly according to the necessity of the moment, yet it appears to be universal in design. Sadly, in these times, we tend to live vicariously through these symbols rather than through the experiences that created them. This is evident in the media especially, where the population is asked to desire and make manifest that which is a universal ideal rather than what is the truth. The truth tends to be too complex, and therefore unmarketable. This exhibition will reveal what exists behind the 21st century symbol, and will expose the nature of them, whether in the form of a person, totem, icon, ritual, or desire.
